Blessed Month

The most blessed time of Ramadan is approaching; the showers of mercy and blessings are heaped on the believers during the last ten nights of Ramadan. It is time to put more effort and be more dedicated. It is a golden chance for those who were careless in the past days of Ramadan to make up and get a great share of the Ramadan’s reward. And it is a long awaited season

for the devoted to get closer to Allah and to ascend in higher ranks of dedication. During the Sacred month of Ramadan we should increase in a lot of acts of worship (ibadah) such as Give time for the Qur’an, in reciting, understanding, contemplating and applying it. “the whole point of the Qur’an is to “guide” its not a book simply to be recited. Perform qiyaam al layl (tahajjud) with sincerity. Read up on beneficial Islamic books such as hadiths, sahabah stories. Beg Allah (swt) for forgiveness for our sins, Remember Allah (swt) is the most forgiving and he loves forgiveness. Increase in giving to the needy (charity) -The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” – Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604.

A lot of people especially women Our Mothers, Wives, Sisters, Aunties and daughters usually spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing for iftaar, usually for the whole day, this free and spare time should be used wisely. Spend time worshipping your Lord, increase your ibadah-Recite your duahs, ask and beg Allah(swt). My beautiful sisters, no one is telling you not to prepare cakes for iftaar or meals but use your time wisely this Blessed month only comes once a year alhamdulilah.

There are a lot of virtues of Ramadan which are stated in the Quran and hadiths- “Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong)..” (Q 2:183)

Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwaa.” (Q2:183)

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.” (Imam Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira(r.a): The Messenger of Allah (saw) said:”… whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Imam Bukhari).

In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah (saw) says, “Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted.” [ImamTabarani]

“Fasting is a shield with which a servant protects himself from the Fire.” [Imam Ahmad, Saheeh]

I hope this has been a beneficial reminder. May we see this Ramadan and benefit from it InshaAllah ameen.
